AREA RECOGNITIONS JANUARY 2009
I would like to acknowledge some of our Area achievements over the past
year:
- We had 5 coaches take an intermediate
upgrade course
- 12 referee upgrades - including 1 National and 1 Advanced
- 3,484
children playing soccer and
- Hosted and staffed the NAGM
Our Area goals over the next year:
My vision is to see an
Area where the Regions work together - complimenting each other by sharing their strengths, exchanging ideas and asking for
and receiving help as needed. Our
main goal is to continue to grow a “Quality” program as a result of cohesive management – coaches, that
means teamwork!
I would like to see everyone working together as a family rather
than as “rivals”. Rivalry is good fun on the field, but as a management team we need to present
a unified front. Therefore,
as we go forward, I am asking everyone to dedicate themselves to the job they volunteered to do. A simple fact - If everyone
does their own job to the best of their ability, it is much easier to run a Region, which makes for a successful area!
Most of you have been taking a short break after the busy fall season. During this break
I have asked your Area board to meet and set goals for this year. Now we need your input and assistance.
We have created several sub-committees to resolve many of the issues we have faced in the past; including,
among others, Area and Area Play Guidelines. If you are asked to volunteer to join a committee, please
do.
I have also asked that each Area Administrator set up regular meetings with their regional counterparts –
the first round table sessions are scheduled during the Section Conference on Saturday evening, February 14th.
Additionally we will have a semi-annual Area/Region wide Board Meeting to discuss the latest updates, the first to be on April
23rd at the San Bruno Park & Rec.
I want to thank my Area Board – they
have stepped up to the challenges I have set before them. I hope you share our excitement for the future - There is no better
leader than Passion for what we do.
In closing, remember, it’s always for the “kids”.
